Ik heb gezien dat mijn uitgever een boek over baking soda, “Natriumbicarbonaat”, heeft uitgegeven. Omdat ik al lang de bijzondere kwaliteiten van baking soda kende en ik dokter Mark Sircus’ artikelen over gezondheid, in het bijzonder de magnesiumolie, heb gelezen, heb ik het boek aangeschaft. Ik gebruik iedere avond baking soda in mijn boekweitpannenkoek en mijn dochter gebruik het om haar voorhoofdsholten open te houden door bij zware verkoudheid de schimmels met baking soda te doden.
In het boek kun je lezen hoe je nog veel meer aandoeningen met baking soda kunt aanpakken, bijvoorbeeld jicht, osteoporose en zelfs kanker. Het is een zeer goedkoop middel en ik koop het in de lokale Toko (Arm&Hammer).
Iedereen die bezig is met de verbetering van zijn gezondheid met natuurlijke middelen, zal veel baat hebben bij dit boek.

Calcium & broze botten

Het boek “Calcium en broze botten” is uit!
Dit is het vijfde en laatste boek waarvan ik heb gezorgd dat het op de Nederlandse markt komt. Ik heb het ook vertaald.
Ik vond het erg belangrijk dat mensen de waarheid leren over calcium in relatie tot broze botten. De reguliere medici weten de waarheid meestal niet en vertellen mensen sprookjes die niet waar zijn.

Voeding niet langer oorzaak voor hoog cholesterol

Dear Reader,
Big Brother has finally come around to what I've been telling my patients for almost 30 years – stop worrying about cholesterol in your diet!
The influential Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, the nation's top nutrition panel, has now admitted they were WRONG about cholesterol. And they have now proclaimed this former dietary evil as no longer a "nutrient of concern."1
They were slow – and, of course, wrong for decades – but at least they got there in the end.
That means eggs are back on the menu for millions of Americans – yolk and all – although my patients have been enjoying their eggs fried, poached, scrambled, deviled and made into omelets, flans and quiches for years, without the slightest negative impact on their health.
Big Brother has also deemed other "high-cholesterol" foods, like duck, goose, liver, lobster and shrimp, to be no longer a public health issue – not that they ever really were, except in the bureaucrats' junk science-fueled imaginations.
On one hand, it feels good to have the federal government's highest panel of diet experts on my side for once.

After nearly four decades, they've actually come out and said it … there's no evidence that consuming cholesterol causes heart attacks.
But, on the other hand, I'm still frustrated at how much these nutrition gurus continue to get wrong.
And, in spite of the fact that they no longer claim dietary cholesterol causes heart attacks, the medical establishment is still on a pointless campaign to lower our cholesterol levels. They say it's necessary because you only get about 20 percent of our cholesterol from food while the rest comes from your genetic makeup.2
At the same time, the nutrition panel still won't call off its crusade against red meat and other sources of saturated fats. So it still wants you to give up butter, cream, whole milk, real cheese and ice cream.
Yet researchers have debunked many previous studies that linked those foods to coronary disease.
Four decades of Big Brother's advice has been based on bad science.3,4,5,6,7
But they still don't get it. They're messing with nature. We descended from hunter-gatherers, whose bodies evolved to eat large helpings of meat and fat. Societies may have changed, but our bodies and dietary needs have not.
Modern life has fueled epidemics of obesity, diabetes and heart disease. But as I've said for years, the culprit hasn't been cholesterol. The real villains are sugar syrups, chemical additives, and grains.
In the late '50s, Big Pharma and Big Agra each launched their own propaganda machines to blame cholesterol for heart attacks.
Big Pharma wanted to sell cholesterol-lowering drugs, while Big Agra wanted to sell cheap, high-profit Frankenfoods, especially grains and soybeans. Both industries continue to make billions of dollars off unnecessary human health misery.
In 1961, the American Heart Association relied on flawed studies – I call it junk science - when it advised people to consume less than 300 milligrams of cholesterol a day. A whole egg has about 190 milligrams of cholesterol.
In the late '70s, the federal government also relied on flawed studies when it went on the warpath against cholesterol. It told Americans to give up eggs, butter, cheese, and whole milk. And the same studies led the feds to warn Americans away from saturated fats, like those found in red meat.
Since I began practicing medicine nearly 30 years ago, I've made it my mission to expose medical myths like these.
My first piece of advice to patients who come to me with heart disease is always the same.
I tell them: "Your condition can be reversed. But, first, quit taking these cholesterol-lowering drugs. Throw them in the trash!"
In my book The Ageless Heart: Advanced Strategies to Reverse Heart Disease and Restore Your Heart's Pumping Power, I explain that your body actually needs cholesterol to perform many vital biochemical functions.
Thanks to the propaganda machine, almost everyone on the planet has heard how cholesterol patches the damaged walls of blood vessels. And they've heard how patches turn into plaque, growing thicker and thicker… until, the blockage causes a stroke or heart attack.
And most people have heard that they have two types of cholesterol, one called low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and the other is called high-density lipoprotein (HDL). According to the conventional wisdom, LDL is the "bad cholesterol," because it causes plaque. And the HDL is the "good cholesterol," because it helps clean away LDL.
That's not the whole story. Despite what most doctors will tell you, cholesterol doesn't cause heart attacks. Those LDL deposits are a symptom of coronary disease, not the cause.
Inflammation is the real villain. It's what damages the blood-vessel walls in the first place. So when LDL patches the wall, it's just doing its job. And the patch should only exist long enough for the inflammation to pass and for the wall to heal.
Then, HDL is supposed to come along and clear it away. But the system breaks down when there's too much inflammation and not enough HDL to keep up with the cleanup. The best way to treat this is to reduce inflammation and boost your HDL levels.
But Big Pharma focuses on drugs to lower your LDL, because no one's been able to come up with a patentable way to increase HDL. But at my South Florida wellness clinic, I concentrate on teaching my patients natural ways to increase their HDL, through diet, exercise and supplements.
I believe one of the best strategies for raising HDL is simply to lose weight or practice a regular exercise regimen, like my PACE program.
Otherwise, try some of these no stress, no strain alternatives...
A daily snack of olives can boost your HDL. And add them to cold dishes for extra flavor. And eat salads dressed with olive oil. It's best to eat olives and olive oil uncooked, because heat saps some of their antioxidant powers.
Daily doses of vitamin C, and niacin can also increase your HDL production. Vitamin C is vital for cholesterol metabolism. Both vitamins are necessary so the body can excrete excess cholesterol. I recommend taking 1,500 milligrams of vitamin C twice a day and 50 milligrams of niacin once a day.
Finally, take carnitine supplements. You usually get carnitine from red meat, but not enough to significantly enhance your HDL. Make sure you get supplements labeled L-carnitine, which is the natural form. You don't want the synthetic D,L-carnitine, which will be no help at all. Take 500 milligrams a day.

Well, that's the scary scenario hanging like the sword of Damocles over more than 500,000 dental implant patients in the UK alone, as they wait to discover whether they've contracted a little-known disease called peri-implantitis.

Peri-implantitis is an inflammatory disease characterised by bacterial infection of the gums and the gradual loss of the jaw bone supporting the implant. 

Dentists are still unsure as to whether the infection causes the bone to recede, or the bone loss exposes the area to bacterial infection. 

Either way, one thing is clear — they're completely in the dark as to how to treat it!

Experts estimate that as many as one third of patients will be infected. As Dr Stephen Jacobs, a past president of the Association of Dental Implantology, and well-respected implant surgeon, warns: "We are going to be seeing more and more cases. We're sitting on a time bomb..." 

The problem seems to stem from the current type of porcelain crown with titanium roots that has a rough, instead of a smooth, surface which is supposed to integrate better with the bone. However, the textured surface is more likely to harbour bacteria if the bone shrinks away from it.

This latest warning comes hot on the heels of a recent report by the Consumers' Association which revealed that, in too many cases, dentists are guilty of proposing inappropriate treatment plans and surgical procedures that patients just don't need.

And to make things worse, their investigation into the UK dental industry showed that as many as 9 out of 10 dentists are failing to provide even basic care for their patients. The general standard of care in NHS and private dental practices was described as either "poor" or "very poor."

But worse still, basic checks for oral cancer, gingivitis, tooth decay and more were almost never carried out.

Ze geven een medicijn dat de regulatie van de eigen hart blokkeert, vermindert je vermogen om je hartslag omhoog te brengen en onderdrukt de natuurlijk ionotropische capaciteit van je hart om sterker te slaan. 
In het begin werken betablokkers min of meer om je bloeddruk kunstmatig naar beneden te brengen en je hart zal kalmeren, maar nu kun je nooit baat hebben bij lichamelijke oefeningen!

My old office manager J.F. was on beta-blockers for high blood pressure.
I put her on a treadmill once to give her a test and nothing happened.
She got extremely short of breath, but her heart couldn’t keep up. It was still at 80 bpm. She couldn’t challenge her heart and make it stronger because of the drug from her cardiologist.
How did this happen? Because no one has messed up modern medicine more than cardiologists.
They’re all about the methodology of using heart drugs and technology, but are opposed to the general concept of analyzing your health and how to improve it.
It’s a true but sad state of affairs that a cardiologist can’t tell you any more about how to improve the health of your heart than the average person you meet on the street. They know virtually nothing about it.
They know how to use drugs. But the drugs are not health enhancing. In fact, there are no categories of cardiac drugs that I don’t disagree with. One by one, I ruled all the drugs out.
For example, if you are getting treatment for high blood pressure, you might be on beta blockers. But think of what cardiologists are doing there.
They’re now giving you a drug that blocks the regulation of your heart, down-regulates your capacity to get your heart rate up, and suppresses your heart’s natural ionotropic capacity to beat more firmly.
Initially, beta-blockers sort of work to artificially bring down your blood pressure, and your heart will calm down, but now you can never get the benefit of exercise.
So over time, beta-blockers will turn your heart into a fat, lazy, incompetent water balloon. You already had high blood pressure to deal with, now you have a gross de-conditioning of your heart.
But there are other steps you can take to lower your blood pressure naturally. And when you do, your chance of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke go back to normal. It’s as if you never had high blood pressure in the first place.
Step 1 – Use Nature’s Own Blood Pressure “Prescription.” I’m talking about magnesium, your body’s natural blood vessel relaxer. I’ve used it in my practice with great results.
It helps balance potassium, sodium and calcium, which all affect blood pressure. There are many studies that show the more magnesium you get the lower your blood pressure will be.
Why take a drug when this overlooked mineral can have the same effect?
New research even finds that if you get enough magnesium you have a lower risk of dying from any cause. The study followed 4,203 people over ten years, and found that the rate of death from all causes was 10 times higher for people getting the least magnesium.1 And the rate of death from heart problems was more than 50% higher for those with low magnesium.
You can get more magnesium by eating nuts, seeds, dairy products and dark green, leafy vegetables. But modern farming practices have depleted much of the mineral content in our soil, so there’s not much magnesium in vegetables any more.
Magnesium used to be in your drinking water but water with high mineral content – hard water – fell out of favor because most people don’t like the taste.
If you can’t get enough magnesium through food, you can take a supplement. I recommend between 600 and 1000 mg a day. Take it with vitamin B6. It will increase the amount of magnesium that accumulates in your cells.
Step 2 – Toss The Processed Salt. Salt itself isn’t bad. We naturally crave salty foods. In fact, when your blood is at its healthiest, it’s slightly salty.
Unfortunately, the salt you find in most foods today isn’t even close to what Mother Nature intended. It’s bleached and refined. When they’re done making it into the white stuff that goes into packaged foods and your salt shaker it’s like franken-salt, with residual chemicals from the processing.
Try to avoid the foods that have the most processed salt. Bottled salad dressing, cured meats (beef jerky, salami), processed cheese, salt-covered snack foods and pickled foods (like olives and dill pickles).
Instead, look for sea salt. It’s unrefined, and has all the minerals and co-factors nature meant salt to have, like potassium and magnesium.
Regular salt is almost pure sodium chloride. Natural sea salt has sodium chloride too, but also has over 50 other minerals (including magnesium) with all the co-factors and trace elements nature intended real salt to have.

Veel valse positieve uitslagen bij mammografieën - Denk goed na voor je een mammografie laat maken!

Wist je dat er veel valse negatieve uitslagen zijn bij een mammografie? De gevolgen daarvan zijn vaak niet te overzien. Veel angst, psychologische stress, onnodige biopsieën en chirurgische ingrepen veroorzaken onnodig een verhoogd risico op het ontwikkelen van kanker.

Redenen genoeg om goede na te denken voor je een mammografie laat maken.

Triclosan - een hormoonverstoorder in je Colgate tandpasta!!!

Triclosan niet zonder risico
De antibacteriële chemische stof triclosan die vaak wordt toegevoegd aan tandpasta zou een ernstige bedreiging kunnen betekenen voor de gezondheid.

De Europese Commissie voor de bescherming van de consument waarschuwt dat het ingrediënt triclosan bacteriën resistent maakt voor antiobiotica.

Onderzoek
De commissie is bezorgd en dringt aan op meer onderzoek naar de veiligheid van de stof. De antibacteriële chemische stof Triclosan werd 50 jaar geleden ontwikkeld en aanvankelijk als een zeep voor chirurgen gebruikt.

Antibiotica
In tandpasta zit Triclosan omdat het aanslag en ziekten aan het tandvlees voorkomt. De stof wordt zo vaak toegepast dat het in de urine van 75 procent van de Amerikaanse bevolking werd aangetroffen.

Nu blijkt dat Triclosan voor genmutaties in bacteriën kan zorgen. Hierdoor maken de bacteriën een proteïne vrij die bescherming biedt tegen andere bacteriën. Antibiotica en andere levensreddende middelen zouden dan geen werking meer hebben.

Voordelen
Eerdere onderzoeken toonden al aan dat triclosan de bacteriële mutaties van E coli, salmonella en listeria veroorzaakt.
De fabrikant van Colgate zegt dat de voordelen van triclosan in tandpasta groter zijn dan de gevaren voor de gezondheid.
Fabrikant GlaxoSmithKline neemt een meer voorzichtige houding aan, het bedrijf stopt met het gerbuik van triclosan in producten als Aquafresh, Sensodyne en Corsodyl.
