Statines (cholesterol verlagende middelen) laten het risico op borstkanker met meer dan 200% toenemen!

Waarom heeft een van de zeven vrouwen borstkanker? Eén oorzaak is het gebruik van synthetische hormonen bij dieren en nog een oorzaak zijn andere synthetische hormonen  die aan vrouwen worden voorgeschreven, zoals medroxyprogesterone als in Provera. Nog een oorzaak is het gebruik van statines.

Een recent onderzoek toonde aan dat mensen die langer dan tien jaar statines gebruikten nu een toegenomen risico hadden op invasief ductaal carcinoom van 83% en een toegenomen risico op invasief lobulair carcinoom van 97% vergeleken met mensen die nooit statines gebruikten. Bij vrouwen die met hypercholesterolemia gediagnosticeerd werden, hadden mensen die langer dan tien jaar statines gebruikten nu een toegenomen risico op invasief ductaal carcinoom en een toegenomen risico op invasief lobulair carcinoom van 237%.

Het toegenomen risico op kanker door het gebruik van statines is door andere studies aangetoond. Alle cholesterolmedicijnen, de oudere en de nieuwe zijn in verband gebracht met een toegenomen risico op kanker. Bij knaagdieren is bij meerder studies een verband aangetoond tussen lage cholesterolspiegels en de ontwikkeling van kanker. 

Sommige mensen zullen geschrokken zijn van de bovengenoemde getallen. Ik niet. Het verband tussen statines en kanker is moeilijk te bewijzen, omdat veel onderzoeken niet lang genoeg duren. Kanker doet er lang over om te groeien. Wanneer je naar het werkingsmechanisme van statines kijkt en het resulterende tekort aan cholesterol en Q10, geloof ik dat langdurig gebruik van statines onvermijdelijk tot een toegenomen risico op kanker zal leiden.

Waarom heeft één van zeven vrouwen borstkanker? Borstkanker treft zo veel vrouwen, ten dele door de dolle promotie van synthetische hormoontherapie (een toegenomen risico op invasieve borstkanker van 23%) en statines. We worden vreselijk om de tuin geleid en beschadigd door deze giftige therapieën. Als je de biochemische werking van statines bestudeert, kom je tot de conclusie dat het aannemelijk is dat je een toegenomen risico krijgt op kanker, diabetes, infectie, geheugenverlies, spieraantasting en andere negatieve werkingen. Nog erger is het feit dat statines nooit hebben laten zien dat ze het leven van een man of vrouw significant kunnen verlengen. Misschien moeten vrouwen gewoon “nee” zeggen tegen een recept voor statines.

Wat kun je doen? Onderwijs jezelf over de werkingsmechanismen van een medicijn. Zoek naar een manier om de biochemie van je lichaam te helpen in plaats van enzymen te vergiftigen (zo werken statines) en receptoren te blokkeren. De meeste (meer dan 98%) werken door je enzymen te vergiftigen of door receptoren te blokkeren. Tamoxifen is een medicijn dat aan je oestrogeenreceptoren bindt. Daarom dacht men dat het een teveel aan oestrogeenbinding kon voorkomen en zodoende kanker kon voorkomen.

Het wordt in het algemeen voorgeschreven om borstkanker bij vrouwen met een hoog risico daarop te voorkomen en het wordt meestal gedurende vijf jaar ingenomen.

Het is echter gebleken dat Tamoxifen, in plaats van kanker te voorkomen, kanker veroorzaakt. Volgens een studie die in het International Journal of Gynecological Cancer werd gepubliceerd, resulteert de behandeling van borstkanker met Tamoxifen in een toegenomen risico op het ontstaan van baarmoederkanker en het overlijden eraan.

Dit is slechts één studie die gepubliceerd is uit een steeds groter wordende rij studies die ernstige zorg oproepen over het toegenomen risico op baarmoederkanker bij vrouwen dieTamoxifen gebruiken als preventief medicijn tegen kanker.

Ondanks deze bezorgdheid is Tamoxifen nog steeds op de markt!

Pomegranate Seed Oil Causes Breast Cancer Cells to Self-Destruct

On the heels of the discovery by Israeli researchers that pomegranate juice has antioxidant properties, another Israeli team has found that the fruit could have important implications for breast cancer treatment and estrogen replacement therapy.

HAIFA, ISRAEL and NEW YORK, N.Y., August 21, 2001 - On the heels of the discovery by Israeli researchers that pomegranate juice has antioxidant properties, another Israeli team has found that the fruit could have important implications for breast cancer treatment and estrogen replacement therapy.

The Technion-Israel Institute of Technology research team presented two studies at an international conference in June indicating that pomegranate seed oil triggers apoptosis — a self-destruct mechanism in breast cancer cells. Furthermore, pomegranate juice can be toxic to most estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells, while leaving normal breast cells largely unaffected. Estrogen is a hormone often prescribed to protect postmenopausal women against heart disease and osteoporosis.

In the first study, laboratory-grown breast cancer cells were treated for three days with pomegranate seed oil. The researchers observed apoptosis in 37 to 56 percent of the cancer cells, depending upon the dose of oil applied.

In the second study, both normal and cancerous breast cells were exposed to fermented pomegranate juice (pomegranate wine) and pomegranate peel extracts, which contain polyphenols (powerful antioxidants). The vast majority of the normal cells remained unaffected by the two pomegranate derivatives. But more than 75 percent of the estrogen-dependent cancer cells, and approximately half of the non-estrogen dependent cancer cells were destroyed by exposure to these same pomegranate products.

"Pomegranates are unique in that the hormonal combinations inherent in the fruit seem to be helpful both for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer," explains Dr. Ephraim Lansky, who headed the studies. "Pomegranates seem to replace needed estrogen often prescribed to protect postmenopausal women against heart disease and osteoporosis, while selectively destroying estrogen-dependent cancer cells."

Dr. Martin Goldman, a New York-based board certified internist and life medicine specialist, notes, "This is apparently a safe substance that could be helpful to many people, especially women at high-risk for developing breast cancer."

Dr. Lajos Pusztai, an assistant professor who studies breast cancer at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, says Dr. Lansky’s study "provides a potential new avenue to develop anti-cancer drugs from a natural compound."

Technion researchers have tested other health benefits of the pomegranate. In 1999, they were among the first to publish research showing the antioxidant potency of pomegranates. A later Technion study found that the daily consumption of pomegranate juice dramatically lowered oxidation of LDL cholesterol, leading to the elimination of plaques in coronary arteries.

Based on these studies, Rimonest Ltd., a biotechnology firm affiliated with the Technion’s Entrepeneurial Incubator Company (TEIC), has launched a new product intended as a cardiovascular protective compound. The product, scheduled to reach the U.S. market this summer, is a mixture of pomegranate juice, seeds and peel derivatives. It will be sold as CardiogranateTM under the label of Slayman & Reed, Inc., of Bakersfield, California.

De Relatie tussen Synthetische Hormoonvervanging en Borstkanker

Borstkankercijfers stegen dramatisch in de jaren '80 en '90 en bereikten een piek in 2001. Raad eens, de toename van borstkankerdiagnoses liep parallel aan een grote toename van het aantal voorgeschreven recepten voor synthetische hormoonvervangingstherapieën (HRT) zoals Prempro en Premarin. Toen, in 2002, de Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) studie voor de eerste keer rapporteerde dat synthetische HRT het risico op borstkanker kon vergroten gooiden veel vrouwen hun pillen door de wc ondanks het feit dat hun artsen en de farmaceutische industrie de mogelijke aantijging onder het vloerkleed schoven. Vandaag geven nieuwe statistieken van Kaiser Permanente Northwest de vrouwen, die hun gezondheid destijds weer in eigen hand genomen hadden, gelijk.

Borstkankercijfers zijn met 18% gedaald tussen 2003 en 2007. Deze daling hangt direct samen met een daling in het aantal recepten die uitgeschreven werden voor synthetische HRT ( van ongeveer 90 miljoen naar minder dan 20 miljoen) naar aanleiding van het rapport van de WHI resultaten. Volgens  Phillip O. Warner, M.D., een wel gerespecteerd arts en medisch onderzoeker in het veld van de menopauze en hormoonvervanging, is het bewijs dat synthetische hormonen invasieve, hormoonpositieve borstkanker veroorzaakt nu ontegenzeglijk en algemeen geaccepteerd.

Bio-Identiek Progesteron: Mogelijke Beschermer tegen Hormoonpositieve Borstkanker

Een hormoonpositieve borsttumor is een tumor die hormonen nodig heeft, in het bijzonder oestrogeen, om te kunnen groeien en voort te kunnen woekeren. De medische term voor deze type tumoren is oestrogeenreceptor positief. Een kritische vraag is, "Waar krijgt de tumor het oestrogeen vandaan dat zijn groei voedt?"   Het antwoord kan verschillend zijn voor verschillende vrouwen. Laat me uitleggen.

Oestrogeen and progesteron zijn hormonen die worden geproduceerd door de vrouwelijke eierstokken. Oestrogeen stimuleert celgroei, hetgeen, wanneer niet onder controle gehouden, de voorloper van kanker kan zijn. Wanneer de interne levels van oestrogeen en progesteron in balans zijn echter, neutraliseert progesteron de mogelijkheid van oestrogeen om de celgroei te stimuleren. In andere woorden, progesteron bewijst duidelijk dat het een natuurlijke anti-oestrogene werking bezit. Wanneer interne progesteronlevels voldoende in balans zijn om oestrogeenspiegels in balans te houden, zal er niet voldoende "extra" oestrogeen circuleren in het lichaam om oestrogeenreceptorpositieve tumorgroei te stimuleren.

Behalve synthetische HRT kunnen twee andere algemene factoren de ratio van oestrogeen en progesteron verstoren en daardoor een situatie van oestrogeen dominantie voortbrengen . Dit zijn leeftijd en lichaamsvet. Wanneer het lichaam oestrogeen dominant is , worden tumoren die van oestrogeen afhankelijk zijn "gevoed" en kunnen ze groeien.

• Leeftijd creëert een, natuurlijk veroorzaakte, situatie van oestrogeen dominantie. Progesteronproductie begint te dalen bij alle vrouwen rond de 30-35 jaar. Progesteronlevels dalen zelfs 120x sneller dan oestrogeen levels.
• Vetweefsel in het lichaam produceert ook oestrogeen. Dit betekent dat wanneer een vrouw te zwaar is, ongeacht de leeftijd, ze eerder oestrogeen dominant zal zijn.

Wat kan een vrouw doen om bij voorbaat al haar kansen om een oestrogeenafhankelijke tumor te krijgen teniet te doen? Is er iets dat preventief gedaan kan worden?

Absoluut. De anti-oestrogeenactie van bio-identiek progesteron kan helpen het ontstaan en metastasering van oestrogeenreceptor-positieve tumoren te voorkomen. Dit is niet slechts mijn mening. Veel medische studies die de anti-oestrogeenactie van bio-identiek progesteron in borstweefsel bestuderen bewijzen deze veronderstelling. Mijn klinische ervaring is een getuigenis. Gedurende een decade waarin ik meer dan tienduizend vrouwen die aan hormonale disbalansen leden heb behandeld, heb ik slechts twee patiënten gehad die mijn bio-identieke progesterontherapie volgden en die borstkanker hebben ontwikkeld. Het nationale gemiddelde is 1 uit iedere 8 vrouwen.

Iodine Treats Breast Cancer, the Evidence is Overwhelming

Spontaneous Regression of Breast Cancer With Iodine

In his Iodine book, David Brownstein MD reports three cases of spontaneous regression of breast cancer after iodine supplementation.(1)(page 63)

The first patient, Joan a 63 year old English teacher, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989, declined conventional treatment, and took 50 mg per day of Iodoral, (Iodine). Six weeks later, a PET scan (left image) showed, “all of the existing tumors were disintegrating”.

The second patient, 73 year old Delores, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. She declined conventional treatment with radiation and chemotherapy. Instead, Dolores took 50 mg of Iodoral daily. A follow up ultrasound of the breast 18 months later showed,” It appears that these malignancies have diminished in size since the last examination. Interval improvement is definitely seen,” Two years later a follow up mammogram and ultrasound failed to show any abnormality and were read by the radiologist as normal.

The third patient, 52 year old Joyce was diagnosed with breast cancer two years prior (left image), and started on Iodoral, 50 mg per day. Three years after starting Iodoral, her follow up mammograms and ultrasound exams show decreasing size of the tumor with no progression.(1)

Iodine Deficiency Causes Breast Cancer 

Iodine deficiency is associated with a higher rate of goiter and breast cancer. Similarly, higher dietary Iodine intake is associated with less goiter and breast cancer. For example, Japan has the highest dietary intake of iodine (13 mg per day), and the lowest rates for goiter and breast cancer. However, when Japanese women immigrate and change dietary intake of Iodine to the lower 150 mcg/day in America, breast cancer rates increase.(1)

Iceland is another country with high Iodine intake and low rates for goiter and breast cancer. The high dietary iodine came from the fishing industry before WWI. In those days, the fish meal was fed to dairy cows providing milk with high iodine content. After WWI, the fish meal was eliminated from the dairy cows, and breast cancer rates soared ten-fold. (2)

Animal studies

Iodine deficient diets in animals induces breast cancer and goiter.(1)

Iodine Research from Mexico, India and Japan. 

India

The Shrivastava group in India reported molecular iodine induces apoptosis (programmed cell death) in human breast cancer cell cultures. “Iodine showed cytotoxic effects in the cultured human breast cancer cells”.(3) 

Mexico

From Mexico, the Carmen Aceves Velasco Group reported Iodine to be safe, with no harmful effects on thyroid function, and an anti-proliferative effect on human breast cancer cell cultures.(5)(6)(7) Their 2009 paper reported the mechanism by which Iodine works as an anti-cancer agent. Iodine binds to membrane lipids called lactones forming iodo-lactones which regulate apoptosis (programmed cell death). Iodine causes apoptosis which makes cancer cells undergo programmed cell death.(4) Dr. Aceves concluded that continuous molecular iodine treatment has a “potent antineoplastic effect” on the progression of mammary cancer. (10)

Japan

From Japan, Dr Funahashi reported a common seaweed food containing high iodine content is more beneficial than chemotherapy on breast cancer. “He found that administration of Lugol’s iodine or iodine-rich Wakame seaweed to rats treated with the carcinogen dimethyl benzanthracene suppressed the development of mammary tumors. The same group demonstrated that seaweed induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells with greater potency than that of fluorouracil, a chemotherapeutic agent used to treat breast cancer.”(8)

Mechanism of Action-Altering Gene Expression

A 2008 paper by Bernard A. Eskin MD showed that Iodine actually altered gene expression in breast cancer cells, inducing programmed cell death. (9)

Lung Cancer and Iodine

A 2003 study by Ling Zhang showed that molecular Iodine caused lung cancer cells to undergo programmed cell death (apoptosis). These lung cancer cells had been genetically modified to increase iodine uptake.(12) Interestingly, a 1993 case report describes spontaneous remission of lung cancer in a patient incidentally treated with Amiodorone which contains iodine (about 9 mg per day).(13)

In Conclusion

Current Iodine research calls for use of molecular Iodine for all patients with breast cancer.(10)(11) Other cancers such as lung and prostate may also benefit. Further research on Iodine as cancer chemotherapy should receive top priority for NIH funding.
